Family Liaison

Family Liaisons work collaboratively with students, adult family members, school staff and community partners to eliminate barriers that hinder student learning. Acting as intermediaries and advocates, Liaisons deliver proactive services that foster success in social, behavioral, and academic areas through intentional and effective family interactions. Liaisons assist with planning, organizing and implementing family events in their schools. They will also identify resources and services from the community to support families as needed and collaborate with school staff to support non-English speaking parents and students.

How do Family Liaisons help?

Family Liaisons are here to:

  • Attend conferences and school meetings with you.

  • Assist you with completing school forms.

  • Explain school goals, policies, procedures and programs.

  • Provide information to you about school and community resources and services.

  • Encourage and arrange opportunities for open communication between you and school staff.

  • Encourage parent involvement and leadership in school.

Hi everyone! I’m Robertly Ramos, your new Family Liaison. I’m thrilled to return to this school district and serve the Willimantic community again. I’ve lived in Connecticut for 25 years, but I was born and raised on the southwest side of Puerto Rico. While I’m a proud Islander at heart, I’ve lived right here in Willimantic before and this town is my second home. I like to spend my free time staying active outdoors. I am looking forward to meeting all of you and helping our families thrive this year!"
