School is Better with You Here!

“Attendance is not just about today—it shapes your child’s future.”

Chronic Absenteeism : The State of CT defines chronic absenteeism as missing 10% of the school year, which is 18 out of 180 school days.
Things to Know:
Keep it in the single digits- more than 9 absences FOR THE YEAR is too many!
If your student leaves school before 12:00 pm, it doesn’t count as a day attended.
Vacations count AGAINST attendance and should be scheduled when school is NOT in session.
Parents/Guardians should provide a written note whenever your student is absent.
Provide a doctor's note when your student is sick and visits the doctor, dentist or emergency room.
The school will schedule a meeting with parents/ guardians when a student has an excessive number of absences to discuss strategies for improvement.
If attendance does not improve, the school is required to report this information to the Department of Children and Families (DCF)
